September PTI Pages Challenge

Yes, it's the last day of September and I am just now finishing up and posting my layout for Beth's challenge.  Nothing like waiting 'till the last minute, huh?

This  month she told us to use nothing but PAPER!  Then she said that if we felt like we really needed to add something else, then that would be okay too!  (She suffers from a button addiction, so I think that may be why she gave us an out!)

This is my facing page to the layout I did last month.

I actually like this one better.  I punched the edges with an EK Success border punch and laced through a strip of patterned paper.  I wasn't sure how it would turn out, but I think I really like it.  This one took me awhile to put together since it has pictures of my dad.  This was his last Christmas, so I wanted to make sure I was able to highlight him.  I'll add journaling when I'm ready to.

Thanks for looking!

2S4Y #62

I had a lot of fun putting this card together for the 2 Sketches 4 You to Try challenge this week.  Here's the sketch they gave us:

Using a decorative edge on a card is a good challenge for me because I always find it difficult.  I've had this circled scallopped paper from Crate Paper for awhile and never could bring myself to cut into it.  But this sketch sent me right to my room and I didn't hesitate to place it in my cutter!

I used the new Papertrey Ink stamp set Falling Leaves for my focal point.  The oak leaves were pretty easy to apply two colors to and I added a few more falling off of the tree.

Thanks for looking!

Stamps: Falling Leaves

I'm a Lucky Girl!

I won a random prize today from Paper Crafts Connection Blog!.  Don't let the word "random" fool you.  These people are serious about their prizes, and I am lucky enough to be getting this delivered to my mailbox soon, plus an edition of Card Creations, Vol. 8!
Do you recognize all of the Papertrey Ink goodness?  I just received the Christmas tree die a couple of weeks ago, and now I will have the set to match.  The snowmen are adorable, and believe me, I know snowmen!  And those dies from Peace Be Still, *sigh*.  Guess I'll order the set now.

Thanks go Betsey Veldman for writing a wonderful post, creating a beautiful card that now I can CASE and offering up this wonderful prize.  I can't wait to get my hands on it all!

Thanks for sharing in my excitement!

Play Date Cafe #48

This card is for the Play Date Cafe's Challenge #48.  The inspiration photo is wonderful and I just loved the chance to use some funky colors together.  I had this card in my mind for awhile, but it took a few nights to get finished.  Life is busy, isn't it?  Plus, this card was hard to photograph due to the front being cut out.

Here it is:
I was ready to use my new dies from Papertrey Ink, so this card was fun to make.  The patterned paper was a free gift at Archivers one day; sorry, I don't know the brand.  It's pretty nice.

Here are a couple of other shots - inside:

Here's mine:
I wanted to work with cork, since I hadn't in awhile.  I thought it would be perfect for a fall-themed card.  I used the new Tag Sale #1 die from Papertrey Ink to cut it. It's pretty sweet, and I can see it being used over and over again!

Thanks for visiting!

Ink: Dark Chocolate (PTI)

Get Sketchy #57

ETA: Thanks to the girls at Get Sketchy for picking this card as the winner for the sketch!  I'm thrilled and honored!

For some reason, the new sketch at Get Sketchy really jumped out at me and I immediately had an idea in my head.  Don't you LOVE it when that happens?  I do.

Here is the sketch for this week:
And here's my card:

I decided to paper-piece some leaves from Hero Arts Happy Thanksgiving set.  After cutting them all out, I stamped some of the outline image onto the cardstock and secured the colorful ones down.  I finished by heat embossing a branch from the same set and the sentiment from PTI's Wreath for All Seasons set.

It still looked a little empty, so I added the ink to the edges and the twine around the top. I really liked how this one came together!

Thanks for looking!

Supplies:
Stamps: Hero Arts: Happy Thanksgiving, Papertrey Ink: Wreath for All Seasons
Paper:Terracotta Tile, Ripe Avocado, Fine Linen (PTI) and various scraps
Ink: Dark Chocolate (PTI), Versamark

September PTI Blog Hop

Today is the September Papertey Ink Blog Hop!  The challenge this month was to find a fellow blogger that has provided inspiration to us and to create something based on that inspiration.

There are so many people that I could name.  I look at so many blogs that have such beautiful creations that I just want to sit down and try to recreate them all.  It's hard to narrow down who has inspired me with techniques.  Coloring, paper piecing, vintage look, CAS, white space, details, embossing, die-cuts.  I can't even begin to list everyone.

For my Blog Hop card, I would have to say the person that inspired me here was Maile Belles. She has a way with using die-cuts on the front of her cards, leaving the background to show through. This is the first card that caught my attention. You can see details about it here.

Here's my card.  I stamped the raindrops on a piece of Vintage Cream cardstock.  After cutting out the square on the yellow patterned paper, I adhered a clear piece of cardstock to the back to mimic a window.  The curtain is made from Vintage Cream felt die-cut with the medium scallop die.  All the patterned paper is from my stash - it's pretty old.  The  inside has the sun image stamped in Summer Sunrise and a sentiment that reads, "The sun will come out tomorrow."  I don't know why I didn't snap a picture of the inside!

Thanks for looking!  Enjoy your hop!

I'm also barely getting one of my blog group's challenges in with this card.  Laurie challenged us a few weeks ago to create a school-themed card.  If you want to play along with us, you have a few more hours.  You can link your project here. No pressure, just fun!

I'm a member of a blogging group called "Papertrey Paper Dolls." We challenge each other every week to create something based on our whimsy.  This week Amy's challenge is to have a CAS card with white space and a splash of color.  I think this one fits that challenge, so I'm posting it over there too.  Come play along with us by visiting our blog here.  No prizes, no pressure, just fun challenges and lots of support!

Trick or Treat

Here's another card for the Hero Arts Blog challenge this month - anything Fall.  I have had this card in my head for awhile and was finally able to put it on paper.  I tried to challenge myself to use more patterned paper lately on my projects.  The paper is pretty to look at, but I did buy it for a reason.  (I'm not the only hoarder of pretty paper, right?)
Three different Hero Arts stamps are on this card!  The jack-o-lantern is a small stamp in the Stamp It series.  The text bubble is from Robots and the letters are Cute Letters.

Here's the inside:
Don't ask me where that striped paper came from.  I wish I knew.  I love it and want more!!!

Thanks for looking!
