Easter Bag

There's a fun challenge on the CAS-ual Fridays blog this weekend!  We've been challenged to create an Easter project - but it cannot be a card!

My project started out as a tag, but I had the problem of deciding what my tag would be placed on. For Easter,  I bought my son his first Bible, so I was thinking about how to wrap it.  I have some Kraft paper I was going to use, but opted for a Kraft gift bag instead.

Most of the stamps are from bunny4Easter from Stamps of Life.  Now a die has been introduced for the little cutie, and I'm probably going to have to get it.  I stamped him on Vintage cream in brown ink.  I shaded him in with some pink and off-white colored pencils.  (The clouds are from PTI.)

I hope you are having a joyous Easter, celebrating with friends and family!

Dying Eggs

I can see the end!  I'm almost finished with my son's pre-school year scrapbook, which is a good thing because he's going into 1st grade in a couple of weeks!  The end of his scrapbook is May - his birthday.  I'm in April now and worked last night on a CAS layout for Easter.

Here it is:

I used the colorful stripes paper from Echo Park's Sweet Summertime collection, and stitched the pieces to a piece of Harvest Gold cardstock from PTI.  Can you see the stitching?

Then I used my Fiskars Grass Punch on some New Leaf cardstock to create the grass for the rabbit.  The rabbit and eggs are from the set "bunny4Easter" from Stamps of Life.  I colored the bunny with Aquacolor pencils, blended with a Dove Blender, and then added some glossy accents for dimension.  I adhered the body of the rabbit down, but popped the ears up.

Here's a close-up:

I have about 4 more layouts left.  Some of them may be double pages, so it may take a bit.  I'll share here as I can!

For now, I'm submitting this one to the Wee Memories challenge this week.  Jenny challenged us to use no less than 4 colors in our projects.  You can read details and submit your projects here.

Celebrate You!

Wednesday was my sister's birthday - my OLDEST sister.  I like to rub it in a little bit, actually a lot.

And in my true nature lately, I just mailed her card today, although it was created and ready in plenty of time for her birthday.  I just hadn't gone to the store yet to get her the traditional birthday gift from me.  I went on her actual birthday to get her gift, and should have mailed it with her card that day, or even yesterday, but I didn't.

That's OK.  She'll understand.  She hasn't given our other sister her birthday present yet, and it was in October.  So, I think I'm good.

Here's her card:

I used two of my new stamp sets from Stamps of Life on this one - the dictionary4me and scream4icecream sets.  Love them both.  Again, to add a little sparkle I outlined the cone and icecream in my Sakura Stardust pen.  I hope they never stop making that thing - LOVE it!

The Kraft panel was stamped with my favorite background from PTI's Tin Type, and the sentiment is from Inside and Out Birthday.

I love pink, cream and Kraft together.  I forgot how yummy it is until I started putting this together.

This will be my last card for Jenny's challenge at Wee Memories.  It ends tonight.  I think this is #9 for me.  She may reconsider giving us unlimited entries after seeing all my stuff!  You have a few hours left if you want to play along.  Here's the link.

Special Delivery

This card is for two of my favorite challenge blogs.  This week Jenny at wee Memories made it easy on us and gave us an "Anything Goes" challenge.  I love it when she does that.  You can get the details and submit your project here.

CAS-ual Fridays gave us a sketch to use, and I love, love, love sketches.  All the details can be found here

As you know, I just returned from the Scrapbook Convention.  Having recently been pushed into single-parenthood, I was challenged to figure out what to do with my son while I was on my new adventure.  That's where aunts and uncles come in handy, don't you think.  My brother-in-law took him for the day on Saturday to Fossil Rim, which to hear my son describe it is "a grassland zoo."  He fed ostriches, saw zebras, cheetahs and lots of different animals that are not typical to the Texas grassland.  After, they went to the dinosaur park to experience the dinosaur fossils of Texas.  It was quite a full day of fun for him and I very much appreciate my brother-in-law taking him.  So, I made him a card - complete with a white truck like his.

Here's my card I created for both challenges:

Having my newest stamps from The Stamps of Life ready, this card was super simple to create.  Having great tools, like impression plates, make cards look so detailed, but you don't have to spend a lot of time to achieve that look.  I used the impression plate on the blue mat and inked the blue paper to resemble clouds so that it would follow the top part of the sketch.  The hills were cut and stamped to resemble the road, and all I had left to do was stamp and cut out the truck.  Super fun and super simple!

More later!  Thanks for visiting My Happy Place!
