MIM #194 - Stamping Borders

This card is for this week's Make It Monday from Melissa.  She used regular stamps to create a border around the cardstock.  You can find more details if you click on Nichole's blog here.

Scattered Showers 2, Hello Sunshine, Phrase Play #1 die
Harvest Gold, Stampers Select, Summer Sunrise cardstocks

I created a border using the sun image from Scattered Showers 2, stamping in three different yellows - Harvest Gold and Summer Sunrise from PTI, and Lemon Drop from Jenni Bowlin.

Wee Memories & Play Date Cafe

As I promised yesterday, I have another card using the AWESOME color challenge from this week's Play Date Cafe.  You can click here for the challenge information.  Here's the inspiration photo:

I also wanted to play in the Wee Memories challenge for the week, which is paper piecing.

I LOVE paper piecing!  It may be my favorite stamping technique.  Here's what I came up with for these two challenges:

This card has so much of what I love!  Scattered Showers stamp set from Papertrey Ink, Fiskars grass border punch, paper piecing, polka dots, dies, and a little bling.

I die cut the clouds from the white cardstock and matted it with the grey patterned paper so it could peek out from behind.  I paper-pieced the umbrella using Bitty Dot Basics from PTI.  After I secured everything and stamped the sentiment, I felt like there was too much white space, so I added the silver beads to resemble rain drops.  I was really happy with how it turned out.

Here's the inside:

I hope you have some time to play along with these two challenges! Thanks for taking the time to visit My Happy Place!

Cheer Up Buttercup!

I had some scraps left over from a card I made for Becky's challenge, so I decided to create something else with the squares.  Here I've lined them up right next to each and stitched them together with a zig-zag stitch.  I saw this from one of the other entries, Terri.  Very cute - and I'm always looking for an excuse to get my sewing machine going.

I've discovered a great color combination:  Lemon Tart, Ocean Tides and Berry Sorbet  Why didn't anyone tell me about this before?

The picture is not the greatest, sorry.  It's from my phone and then cropped in photoshop! Ugh.

Papertrey Ink Supplies:
Cardstocks: Ocean Tides, Berry Sorbet
Stamps: Scattered Showers (sentiment)
Ribbon: Lemon Tart satin
Epoxy dome stickers
Vintage Cream ink

Other:
Patterned paper from My Minds Eye Dreamy 2

Ain't No Sunshine!

This is my THIRD post today!  Yowzers!  Please scroll down to see the other two.

As I said earlier - I love this week's sketch from Card Patterns!  It is so versatile and FUN!! Here it is (again!):

A long time ago I stamped and paper-pieced this umbrella on the front of the blue cardstock, and then I got stuck.  I didn't know what to do after that, so it just sat and sat and sat.  Today, I decided I was going to use it...finally! So, I cut it and mounted it on the red cardstock and it became my focal point.  Love it when things work out the way I want them...so rare in card-making (and life for that matter!)

Everything is Papertrey Ink supplies except for the random red gemstones!
-Spring Rain, Stampers Select and Pure Poppy cardstocks
-True Black, Spring Rain and Pure Poppy inks
-Scattered Showers, Scattered Showers Additions and Background Basics: Tin Type stamp sets
-Pure Poppy twill ribbon
-Spring Rain buttons

It's my "Blog-o-versary" today!  One year ago today I created my first blog post!  Thanks for dropping by and leaving comments whenever you do!

There was a time when I didn't own Scattered Showers or Scattered Showers Additions.  Then, one day I decided I had lived long enough without either of them, and ordered them.  Boy, am I glad I did.  I love this set designed by Dawn McVey.  I also love Summer Sunrise with Enchanted Evening.

Ink:  Smokey Shadow, Summer Sunrise, Enchanted Evening, and some light blue I had before I discovered Spring Rain (why did THAT take so long?), Versarmark
