The Papertrey Paper Dolls are hosting a blog hop today in honor of our fellow Doll, Laurie Willison, who made it to the Top 10 in Gallery Idol. We are so proud and in awe of Laurie and wanted her to know that she will always be OUR Gallery Idol!
The task sounded simple. Head over to Laurie's blog, find one of of creations to CASE and post on our blogs for today's hop.
As I was perusing her blog, so many choice jumped out at me. I settled on several cards to CASE, printed them off then set to work. What I discovered is that Laurie's style is very difficult to replicate. There is just something about her color choices and simple designs that are hard to make your own. The simple task turned out to be difficult for me and I ended up case-ing 2 cards that I hadn't even printed out in the first place.
Here's the first card I CASEd of Laurie's. You can see the blog post if you click here.
Laurie does a great job with those beautiful rolled flowers. In fact, Renee challenged us last week on our Paper Dolls blog to use those rolled flowers in a project. You can see the details and play along with that challenge if you click here. So, I thought I would use Laurie's rolled flowers for my card.
Here's my version:
Can you see the Background Basics Retro on the yellow panel and my new embossing folder on the green? Excited about both of those. I already had the Hawaiian Shores card base in my scraps, so I went ahead and used it. By the way, I found rolling the flowers to be very difficult at first, but after I figured out a few tricks, I began to enjoy it. If you haven't tried it yet, why don't you give it a shot. I followed the tutorial Renee provided us on our blog that is linked above.
The second card I CASEd of Laurie's was one she submitted for Gallery Idol. I loved the design and haven't ever stamped on vellum before, so I gave it a whirl.
Here's the card of Laurie's. You can see her blog post here.
I made two cards for this one. One monotone and one with a favorite color combination of mine - red, aqua and cream.
Here they are:
I had to put the red plane higher on the panel because I didn't want to hide that cute bird on the cloud.
I hope you can hop with us and show Laurie how much we appreciate her talent. Here's a list of today's participants:

Thank you so so much!! Your cards are AMAZING! I love love that retro background you used on the first card! That is one of my fave's! And your rolled flowers looks perfect! Your next too cards are over the top cute! I LOVE the cloud background! What a fun idea to use the plane....I think I am going to have to CASE that! :) Thank you again dear friend! This really means a lot to me!!
I *love* your rolled flowers!! You did such a great job and then pulled off THREE cards! You are an amazing woman! Thank you so much for organizing this!
Holy moley, three cards!!! And they are all fantastic. I love the rolled flowers (great job!) and you rounded different corners, which is a fun touch. Now I'm going to have to CASE your airplane cards... I guiltily admit that stamp is still uniked, and I got it when it was released! I figured when I got the die I'd have no excuse to whip it out, but alas that still didn't happen. :)
You are brilliant and so are your cards! I'd spot that top Laurie case anywhere, you might even stump the people on Antiques Roadshow someday when they are appraising the "laurie Willison" collection and your card is in there and they can't even tell. Heeheeehee. Proud of all of you!
Your cards are fabulous. I love all three. I think my favorite element is that little bird in the clouds!
Lee Anne, all of your cards are fabulous!! They turned out wonderful! You are so sweet for putting this together! Sorry I wasn't able to play along!
Thanks for getting this Hop all organized for us LeeAnne! Big hugs to you! Now, for your fantastic 3 cards! WOW! Love your rolled flowers...(must have been thinking the same thing) Such beautiful designs and I love your airplane cards too!
WOW you did a wonderful job on both of these cards of Laurie's. I love the first case where you used bg retro. That's my favorite stamp out of the whole set. And those clouds on your airplane cards are too cute. Love it.
Lee Anne, what a sweetheart you were to plan this hop. Such a perfect idea! I had so much fun browsing everyone's cards, too. Yours are fantastic! I love the cloud background behind the planes!!
