Laurie Beth, over at Soap Box Creations, challenged her blog readers to roam the card aisle to find inspiration. Then we were to go home and use the inspiration card to create one of our own. Of course, it turns out that the cards in the aisle are way overpriced, and this just makes you feel better about all the money you spend on crafting supplies. Well, it makes ME feel better. You can find all the information about Laurie Beth's challenge here and play along! You have until Sunday.
I didn't technically go to the card aisle to find a card. I have received a lot of cards recently, and this one just today.
It's beautiful, I think. I love the Ocean Tides color, the embossing look and the little bit of bling in the center of the flowers. I would have never put this color combination together either. It's so pretty. I love this card.
Here's my take on it:
I heat embossed some leaves from Turning a New Leaf on the Ocean Tides cardstock, die-cut a couple of strips from the Eyelet Lace border die, and added some bling in the centers. After stamping the sentiment on a Spellbinders die and adding some twine, I was finished. Easy peasy. It's not quite as fancy as the store bought card, but I love this one too.
This was a great challenge, Laurie Beth! Thanks for the wonderful inspiration!
And thank you for visiting My Happy Place!

Great card!
I think you did an awesome job with this...
and I would have never thought to use those colors either...
but they look fabulous!
I had a lot of fun with this challenge...
and realize I may gasp when I see the total on my orders...
but when I almost fainted seeing the prices on "store bought" cards...
I'll take a little gasp!:)
Hi Lee Anne! What a beautiful card--also a color combo I would have never imagined myself! I love the rows of the eyelet border die!
Lee Anne...great take on the card. The store card is pretty...but nothing like the one you made. I'm telling ya there is nothing better then a handmade card. It's beautiful.
Great card Lee Anne! I like yours much better. I really like that you chose to use the eyelet die for the side panel. So clever.
Your card is just as beautiful as the card you received. I love the jewels in the eyelet border, I would never have thought to use it this way.
Love your card! Its so fun to go outside your normal color combos! I just love this one. I might have to copy you :)
Love your take on the store bought card, yours is BEAUTIFUL!!!
Love the colors on your card. Great take on the store bought one. It is a shock to see how much store bought cards cost these days. Handmade is so much better! Take care!
That card from the store is really pretty but I am gonna have to say your is WAY better! I am loving the eyelets bordres and the bling! You did a fantastic job with the card aisle inspiration! Thank you for playing along Lee Anne! I am so glad you were able to get crafty! Hugs are coming your way girl!!
Your card is way better than that old store bought card! LOL That color combo is certainly not something I would have put together but you did a great job with it!
wowzers....what a great inspiration card and even better handmade card. So similar but such great differences!
I love your version and agree that it is better than the original store bought card! very pretty!
